hi

- i would like to see more view screen. one showing just a compass, hsi etc (similar to oziexplorer)

- i emergency button listing surrounding airfield frequencies, dnd frequency and a position report

"4 miles SE of Aylesbury" - this should be easy to program

- i would also like to see the option of showing checklist which each user can programm for themselves

- more aircraft templates by default

- an arrow showing the wind direction (taken from the weather forecast)

- a home button for a direct leg to your home airfield

- a quick plan button using a bigger onscreen keyboard to type in waypoints easier aka a phone --> this needs to be more

friendly for big fingers

- more disused airfields on the maps as these are a good reference points whilst flying

- roads and motorways should be shown in different colours and line thicknesses

what do you guys think?

Thanks for the suggestions. Some of these have been asked for before. They will be noted down and used to prioritise future feature development. Note that we already have position report and direct to features in the product.

hi i have been thinking about it over nigth and there are two other things which i want to suggest

- the planning feature inflight should also ask for altitude you want to fly at. There needs to be a mask to enter this in a similar way to the destination. the Aero500 has quite a good way to do this.

- also the menu system is very windows like. If you use the full screen with big buttons this would also be very user and finger touch friendly. At the moment I cant navigate the menu system other than using my finger, using cursor buttons dont work.

- during the flight you could give a little warning when you are deviating from your planned height.

- the "warn  when of course" value could be adjustable in the options from 1- 4 miles

Do you need any help integreting new features?

i cant find the reporting function. I can see a report with the airspace warning. Is this different in the demo? How about having a proper Position Report button? You could display in a have transparent window on the screen the compete Position report info. From planning the flight you know the aircraft type, altitude, heading, waypoints etc? --> would this not be great? Whenever you press the button you also get told the distance and compass direction to the nearest airfield, city

Shall i number my suggestions and you let me know which ones you think are good or which ones you might already working one?

It's worth reading the documentation to determine what features are actually already in the product. The easiest way of accessing the position reporting function is to simply click the aircraft symbol.

Three functions would be great:

1. Instrument Panel page with AI in the centre, ASI, VSI, Altimeter, all in easily interpreted colour displays.

2. flight page plan page with way points, distances; individual and cumulative, tracks; true and Magnetic for each way point, and the very useful ETAs (I would nor use Sunrise & Sunset values).

3. GPS derived ILS display, Separately or incorporated with page 1 above but on the right side of the basic instruments.

Any takers?

Feels to me as if we are getting away from the real purpose of Skydemon.

  1. Instrument panel (a la Garmin 296/495 I presume). WE all have instruments already and probably the only one is the simulated Artifical Horizon in the Garmin that many do not have already. My understanding from those with a proper instrument rating is that they wd not dream of using a GPS derived AH for flying in cloud.
  2. Flight Plan page  .. could be useful but thats what the PLOG is for .. printed out before you fly.
  3. Do not use ILS (xpt taking care when crossing them), so cannot comment.

I think we should concentrate on getting SD to do the main job of navigating the airways in a way that is superior to all other software  .. extra bells & whistles to be used as a convenience once in a blue moon distracts from this. IMHO.

I would have agreed with points above some 10 years ago. But technology has moved on and there would be no harm to use it to enhance safety. Suction pump/electric failure..rare but do happen and when they do any available resource would be welcome.

Most data needed are within SD already. Same goes for Plog which provides an up to the second up-date automatically. I think it would be a great help in the cockpit for destination flying. One can have the option of not using it of course.

Unfortunately, it is a competitive market. Software like hardware need to constantly evolve if it were to survive. But one has to keep it simple (Unlike other pocket products).

I am actually hoping that soon I will do without my monochrome skyforce and Garmin pilotIII , leaving SD on its own in the cockpit to do their job.

I am also wondering if a simple equation from triangulation can be introduced into SD to enable it to derive a reasonably accurate DME (call it EDME for estimated) from a GPS distance.
